News and reviews

17/4/2020

All Hallows Church is closed to the public in response to a directive from the Church of England, in order to protect  health and prevent the spread of infection.
We are very sad that there will be no public services for the time being.

We hope that all of you will be able to find ways of joining in live streaming services on the internet, or use Television or Radio to help you connect with the deep message of Good Friday and Easter.
The Easter story has much to tell us about great suffering not being the end of the story but as the beginning of new things and great hope.
The Resurrection will come even though things are very dark at present.

One of the many thoughts that are coming through social media:

Churches are not being closed
Buildings are being closed.
You are the Church,
You are to remain open!

Sadly, due to the Corona Virus all the events planned in the village for the next few months have been cancelled.

At the moment no weddings or Baptisms can take place in the church.   Funerals will be conducted by the graveside or at the crematorium.  Please contact Angela Gresham Cooke 01798 342151 if you have any query, in particular about banns of marriage.

The Sound System
In December 'Sound Impression' came and installed an updated sound system, with new microphones and speakers, improving the sound and access for playlists and the digital organ, which we use every other week.
It involves an improved Hearing loop for those with hearing difficulties, and makes moving around the church with a microphone much easier and less prone to whistles and deafening squeaks!
We are delighted to have had several very generous donations towards this project and a grant from All Churches Trust of £1500.
Thanks to all our donors. This new system takes us into the future and enables everyone to have a better experience during the services. It is hard to enjoy what you cannot hear!

During the Interregnum:
The two Church Wardens, Mark Lavington and Ian Fergusson are responsible for keeping things working during the "vacancy", and the fabric of the building in good repair and the services running smoothly.

They will appreciate all the support and help that can be offered.

The PCC will continue to meet to discuss the future of the parish, and the wardens from Duncton and Upwaltham will be involved in discussions about the way forward.

Please contact
Mark Lavington on 01798 344 489 or
Ian Fergusson on 01798 345 150
